2024 Summer Blast Program
This past summer, we had the incredible opportunity to host a dynamic program for students in grades 4 through 8. A total of 35 students participated in the eight-week program, enjoying 20 hours per week of learning, fun, and meals. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, students were able to experience 16 exciting field trips, including:
- Acrisure Stadium
- Sacred Gate Farm
- Pirate’s Game
- Pleasant Valley Rescue Ranch/Hope Remanes
- Steel City Parkour
- Phipp’s Botanical Gardens
- Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
- National Aviary
- Pickleball/ Rock Climbing at Community Methodist Church (Harrison City)
- Round Hill Park
- Three Pool Days
- Powdermill Nature Reserve
- Peinetti’s Bakery
When not on field trips, students engaged in electives, STEM activities, and an Entrepreneurship Academy. During the academy, students developed product ideas, pitched their concepts, and sold their creations at Schramm’s Market. A standout STEM activity was the Egg Drop Challenge, where students named their eggs, designed protective structures, and watched as the Jeannette Fire Department dropped them from the top of a fire truck ladder!
We’re already looking forward to next year’s Summer Blast Program!
